Engine change


Through the process of development, we switched engines to UE5.1. This posed a few challenges as some elements of the engine were updated, the most prominent being the change to input actions. 

It took me a while to understand the new system as it was vastly different to the one that existed in the engine's previous iterations. Having watched a few videos online, including VRPlayground's video on the subject (Linked below), I now have a better understanding of the mechanic and have used it in some of my elements. The new mechanic created an opportunity for me to use the IMC's (Input Mapping Context) to make context-sensitive inputs. However, it is much more complex than the previous iteration and I will need to study it more to be able to fully understand all of its uses.
